Festive calendar

 

Monday, January 5th, 2009, starting at 17:30, there will be the Parade of the three wise men. The different floats and masquerades of Mataró will accompany the Three Wise Men around the city until  they reach the City council, where they will make a speech.

 

The route of the Three Wise Men Parade:
Square "Puerto Rico", "Alfons X el sabi" outer road, square "España", "Camí de la Geganta", square "de Granollers", "General Or'Donnell" outer road, square "de l'alcalde Serra i Xifra", "Camí del Mig", "Miquel Biada" street, "Alfons XII" outer road, square "Doctor Fleming", "Camí Ral", the Rambla, square "Santa Anna" and "La Riera" until the City council.

 

 

Days of wild party, games and costumes, the next carnival will be celebrated between February 19th and 25th. During these days you can attend the following events we could  not do without: omelette  giving, dances and games for children, the big costumes parade, concerts, and the acts of  Ash Wednesday, which finish with the symbolic burial of the king of the carnival and the appearance and enthronement of the "Vella Quaresma", to whom from that moment, and during 7 weeks, you will be able to sing and cut one leg every Sunday noon in the square of the "Peixateris" .

 

 

The day of the Patron Saint of Catalonia is on April 23rd, and it is special because of the city's transformation: streets filled with books and roses, and rivers of people who are committed and willing to give presents, to stroll, to look for books and share space and feelings. It is also a special time for culture, and all the cultural organizations of the city prepare activities. Above all,  activities for children and presentations of published books.
 

During these days you can see The Family Robafaves in the City council,and accompany all the giants in the parade of  Saint George's day. In the late afternoon the Dragon of Mataró will be the main character of the traditional "Fogonada" (Firework parade). After the Firework parade a ball will bring the Festival to its conclusion.
